Job Description:
The Inpatient/Outpatient Surgical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of surgical procedures for ENT patients. This includes scheduling surgeries, obtaining prior authorizations, communicating with patients, and ensuring all pre-operative and post-operative requirements are met. The coordinator serves as the liaison between physicians, patients, surgical facilities, and insurance providers to ensure timely, efficient, and patient-focused surgical care.
Key Responsibilities:
Surgical Planning and Coordination: Coordinate all aspects of surgical procedures, including scheduling surgery dates, pre-operative assessments, obtaining necessary clearances, and arranging post-operative follow-up appointments.
Patient Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for patients undergoing surgery, providing clear and compassionate communication, answering questions, and addressing concerns throughout the surgical process to ensure a positive patient experience.
Physician Liaison: Collaborate closely with ENT physicians and other healthcare providers to facilitate seamless coordination of patient care, ensuring that all parties are informed and prepared for surgical procedures.
Resource Management: Coordinate with hospital or surgical center staff to secure operating room availability, necessary equipment, and other resources required for surgical procedures, optimizing efficiency and minimizing delays.
Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of surgical schedules, patient information, and related documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations and practice protocols, ensuring confidentiality and security of patient data.
Insurance and Financial Assistance: Assist patients with insurance verification, pre-authorization for surgical procedures, and financial counseling as needed, helping to navigate insurance coverage and financial obligations associated with surgery.
Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' needs and preferences throughout the surgical process, serving as their advocate in interactions with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to ensure quality care and optimal outcomes.
