The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) plays a crucial role in the surgical team by providing skilled nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. Key Responsibilities:

1. Preoperative Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients scheduled for surgery to identify their physical and psychological needs, allergies, medical history, and any potential risks associated with the procedure.

4. Intraoperative Care: Assist the surgical team during procedures by providing sterile instruments, monitoring the patient's vital signs, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon. Maintain a sterile field to prevent infections and complications.
5. Medication Administration: Administer medications, including anesthesia, antibiotics, and pain management drugs, according to established protocols and physician orders.
6. Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the surgical team, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination of care. Advocate for patients' needs and safety throughout the perioperative period.
7. Postoperative Monitoring: Monitor patients closely during the immediate postoperative period to assess for complications, manage pain, and promote recovery. Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in perioperative nursing, preferably in an operating room setting.
• Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) is desirable.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
